My Own Best Friend

I was going to post about how I talk to myself all the time, but then I realized that is kind of silly. I don't know what I'd say except that I talk to myself all the time - at work, in the car, at home. I hope it doesn't make me crazy. But before I was going to write this, I thought I had enough content for a whole post, but now I don't think I do. I think I'll just have to go ask myself what I was intending to write.

Blood, blood, blood was everywhere!

That was how I started my college essays. I got into all 8 schools I applied to, so it must have been a good line. It could also describe today's events cause I gave blood today. Except there wasn't really blood everywhere. In fact, there was just blood in my body and not anywhere else. I passed the iron test and the "did you ever inject illegal drugs using a needle from anyone who slept with anyone who went to africa from 1980-1987?" test. (The answer was no, in case you were wondering). Then I got stuck and blood dribbed out into the blood tube for about 30 seconds. Then it stopped. I had to sit there for 30 more minutes with a cold towel on my elbow until it felt numb. Now it's unnumb but since I can feel it, it pretty much feels like someone punched me in the elbow. Wearing a glove. Covered with little razors. But razors that don't make marks, just pain. Yep, that's it. Yeah.

That guy wouldn't give me a t-shirt!!!

At work the other day, we had this R&D expo thing where all the people in R&D, well some of the people in R&D, stand around and answer people's questions about our stuff. The question askers are our own sales people, so usually they're nice about it. Next to my table, there was a table for this other company who makes a product that integrates with one of our products, TestStand. I know TestStand really well - it had 3 years of my life. They were also giving away free polos. Not polo like riding a horse, but polo like wearing a shirt with a collar! So, I went and asked the dude at the table what he did and how the product works. I listened to the whole thing and then he said "I'd give you a shirt, but we're almost out". On the table, was a very large pile of polos. So, I didn't get one. Instead I got an evaluation cd. Then, my co-worker Kent went over and said "can I have a shirt?" and the dude gave him one!!! What's up with that!!! I couldn't believe it. He got a medium which was too small, so the guy said that they'll mail him another shirt later and he could just keep the other one. So, Kent got 2 shirts and I got none. Later, I stole a shirt from them (by stole, I mean that I asked another guy and he gave me one) but I think that other guy must have not liked me. He must have been intimadated by my intelligence. Or he hated me.

Game nights

People say board games are stupid and lame. I say they are stupid and lame! They being the people and not the games. Games have to be one of my favorite things ever. It might have something to do with the fact that I'm super-excitable and the tension, the excitement, the pressure, the winning - it's all there! They should have jobs where people like me get to tell game makers if their game is stupid or not. Then I'd get to play games all day long. But if someone made me play some game with a name like "Puerto Rico", I'd say no. Cause that game doesn't sound so fun. I like games where someone ends up yelling or shouting cause the jubilation is just too much to control. Maybe I should invent a game. Except I don't think anyone would go along with it. There'd be a lot of random rules and I'd think it was funny and I'd laugh the entire time, but no one else would get it. That's how my game would be.

Books about this sort of thing

I've become addicted to trashy romance/adventure novels. There's this author named Janet Evonivich or something that writes books (that's generally what authors do). The books are totally mindless, but they're so mindless that they're a pretty easy and fun break from all the thinking I have to do in the rest of my life. So, I went to Half Price Books and they had 4 books there that I hadn't read yet. So I bought them. It cost $16 total. As I walked out, I realized that I just threw away $16. I wasn't going to read the books more than once. Once I read them, I know what's going to happen. And at the library, books are free. So, for some silly reason, I ended up going to another Half Price Books that day, and I returned 3 of the books. I kept one to tide me over while I got up the energy to go to the library. I don't mind going - it's kind of fun, but I can never remember to either leave work or to go on a Saturday. Plus there's this statue/sculpture of what looks like dead children that were sprayed with some flesh eating chemicals that is outside the library. I'm not sure who decided that the library was the appropriate place for that...

The Apparatus

Alan at work has this top at work. Top as in spinning top. There's a yellow thing with teeth that you pull out to make the top spin. The yellow thing is called "the apparatus". We've been having competitions to see who can spin the longest time. There's even different events - who can spin the most on the cube counter, who can spin the longest on the plate that Dustin uses for his lunch, and yesterday we added spinning on a dry erase board that's horizontal. Every even has a challenge to it though. On the dry erase board, you can move the board so it doesn't run into the wall. On the plate, you want to spin it so that it doesn't move a whole lot and lose a lot of speed. On the cube, you have to sit on the edge of the counter so that it doesn't spin off the other side. When I was a kid, if you would have given me a top, it would have been fun for about 4 minutes. This top must be special cause we've spent hours and hours playing with it at work. I wonder what would happen if we gave this special top to a kid. I think the kid might self-combust or something from all the excitement. I bet.

Latest Music

The other day, I bought a "The Faint" soundtrack from ITunes. And I bought stellastarr* too. I like those bands a lot and they're totally not what I would consider me liking. I love the first song by The Faint - Desperate Guys, mostly because of the violin thing. I love violin things. I wish I could play the violin. I played my cousin Allison's once. It was horrible. I barely squeaked out "Mary had a little lamb". It was like her little lamb was being murdered. In 5th grade I had a crush on a kid that played the cello. I can't remember his name, but I think his twin's name was Robbie. Once, I whacked Robbie on the back at school and it left a hand print. Ever since then, string instruments have been fascinating to me. Not because I hit Robbie, but because his twin played the cello.

How's the Weather?

Sometimes when I walk outside, I love living in Texas. The weather feels like being on vacation - nice and warm and breezy. Othertimes, like today, I woke up at it was freezing in my room. I remembered that the radio guy said that it was going to be 29 degrees last night. That's super cold for Texas, but it would explain my cold bedroom. So, I took a super hot shower and put on my fuzzy angora turtleneck sweater and black pants and stepped outside, ready to run to my car and turn on the heat. It's like 65 degrees out there at least. So, now I'm a little hot and my pants are growing their own fur. Above the knees are mostly covered in sweater hair. But if anyone wants a bunny rabbit, they can probably sculpt their own bunny chia-hair pet. I'm not sure that anyone would actually go for that though...

Sir Blogs-too-much

So, this blogging thing is kind of random, huh? There's big important stuff that happens in my life, but I don't want to put it in the blog cause then people who I don't want to know about it will know. And I can't post about particular things that piss me off cause then someone would know that I'm mad at them. So, I'm left with random things to post about that are mostly inconsequential or funny antedotes about my life. I'm not sure how it'd be possible to post like 8 times in one day. That just seems crazy to me. If you post 8 times in one day, how do you even have enough of a life to write about it? You'd just post about your last blog post. By the way, did you read mine? It was about my hair...again...

The long awaited follow up post on my hair

So, here's how the guy told me to do my new short hair-do. First, wash it. Then apply texturizing gel to make it voluminous. Then blow dry upside down. Then lightly coat with pomade stuff. I did that and it looked so so. The next day, I skipped step 3 (pomade - washing doesn't really count as a step since it has to happen and isn't an option to skip it). Everyone said my hair looked much better. The next day, I skipped step 1 (no texture crap). Even more compliments. The next day I skipped step 2 (blow dry). The best hair ever! So, my low maintenance hair has turned into the lowest maintenance hair ever. My routine now is to blow dry my hair and count to 20 while shaking my head back and forth. That way my bangs don't stick up or go to the left. For some reason, I think I look silly when my hair goes to the left. And then I leave the house. I need to take pictures where I don't look stupid so I can post them online. Anyone want to do a photoshoot?

Lonestar bottle caps

Lonestar beer has the beer bottle caps that have little puzzles on them. Puzzles like little symbols + a letter + another symbol - another symbol. They're crazy hard, even if you didn't even drink any beer (which I didn't). After looking at one for 5 minutes and not being able to figure it out and cheating and looking up the answer online, and still barely seeing how they made it, I flippantly said to my coworkers "I'll give you $100 if you can figure that out." And then quickly told them that I changed my mind to $1. Apparently, after that, Rich figured it out. I only owe him $1 right? And if you think I owe him $100, please don't comment.

Crest PainStrips

A few months ago, a friend took a picture of me making a not-so-attractive face where my teeth were anything but sparkling white. Since my life has been so chaotic, I just yesterday remembered to use the Crest Whitestrips I purchased before I went to Germany. And now my teeth hurt. Just sitting here, they feel wierd. I can't even remember my teeth themselves hurting, but they do! Somehow I don't think that marketing them as "Crest PainStrips" would have gone very well. So, now I'm conflicted. My teeth still aren't sparkling white. Do I keep using the strips? Afterall, no pain no gain. Or maybe I already have the pain, why not get the gain? Or do I stop and say that perfectly white teeth just aren't worth it?

New shoes for me toes - Why doesn't that rhyme?

I got new shoes last last weekend. I saw a lady in the park wearing them in gold and thought they were so cool. The lady was probably 60, but apparently she has really good taste, or I have the same taste as old ladies. I searched everywhere for them in gold, but couldn't find them. I went with black and with my excellent shopping skills and a 2 year old return credit paid a little over half of the website's sale price. Then I let them sit in my car for 5 days while I waited for someone else to confirm that they are attractive shoes. Confirmation received! I'm wearing them now. With white athletic socks. I know that is not supposed to happen, but they hurt my heels. So, I really need someone whose feet are just a tad bigger than mine to wear my shoes and stretch out the heel. It won't hurt that bad. And think of what you'll be doing for me and my achilles. Also, if you need shopping assistance, I'd be glad to help you find whatever you want, most likely on sale, for a minimal fee. Email me for a price quote :)

Goosebumps

Sometimes I get goosebumps. Like when I'm watching tv commercials for American Idol. And then I think "Oh my gosh! Maybe that girl was so good that she gave me goosebumps!" Then sometimes I get goosebumps when I'm reading spam email at work (work-related spam). When I think "maybe that spam was the perfect spam and so I got goosebumps" - then I think I'm just cold a lot.

I thought choleric was a disease...

I took a personality test on catholicmatch.com, to which I embarassingly used to subscribe to, but I think everyone already knows anyway. My results were very mixed. I struggled deciding what to choose when asked "When you're at a party, do you... a)Wait for people to talk to you? or b) end up the life of the party? I'm both really. I started to think about this and I decided that I'm pretty much the opposite of myself. I bet some of my friends would say that I'm the life of the party (I don't mean that to be conceited). I bet an equal number of friends would think that I am a little shy and not that outgoing. So, I'm both outgoing and reserved. I can pull off the business suit professional thing quite well, but I'm at home in jeans and flip flops. I had long hair and now I've got short hair. Ok, so maybe that one doesn't count so much, but you get the point. Does everyone think this about themselves? Am I the wierd one here?

sanguine / choleric
(56% / 44%)
The sanguine-choleric is the most extraverted of all the temperament combinations. With the addition of the choleric aspect, the optimistic, impulsive, fun-loving sanguine becomes more adept at follow-through, taking significant leadership roles, and juggling many projects without unduly sacrificing productivity. This temperament tends to be a happy combination of charm and decisiveness, creativity and analytical skill, friendliness and focus.

Your ability to connect with people balances out the domineering and relentless temperament of the pure choleric. You value relationships highly and make friends easily. You are insightful, enthusiastic, and affectionate; your sanguine capacity for dealing with people, combined with the leadership skills of the choleric, make you an excellent manager of people. You are also capable of constancy, dedication, and serious undertakings — though at times you may have been underestimated, due to your often humorous and light-hearted manner. You not only are capable of creative inspiration, but also you will find within yourself the persistence and drive needed to carry out your inspirations.

I cut the negative stuff out cause it didn't apply to me :)
